Mister and Miss University International Beauty Pageant (MMU-1) has been held every year since 1978 for the purpose of pursuing an ideal image of college students, creating international goodwill among university students in the world, and contributing to world peace through cultural-exchange. MMU-I appoints winners to be "Campus Ambassadors for One Global Family" to spread the culture of peace in their campuses and communities. As the prize for the winners, MMU-I offers several opportunities to join international volunteer programs to further encourage them to be engaged in cultural exchange and service activities. The delegates are visiting Bambaratenna village which consists 700 families, most of whom have only meagre resources and earn their living on hard labour. With RYS, they will build a library and a study room for the village school 'Bambarabedda Maha Vidyalaya' which has a large number of students, talented and intelligent but is without any opportunities or support for development. After the service project, the delegates will head for Colombo and spend 4 days there to pursue their mission as "Campus Ambassadors for One Global Family." They are planning to meet the National leaders in Sri Lanka society, and visit universities and communities to deliver a message of peace.
