TNA parliamentarians meet LTTE leadership Tuesday by P. Krishnaswamy The 22 Tamil National Alliance (TNA) parliamentarians who are scheduled to hold their first meeting with the LTTE leadership in the Vanni Tuesday, will discuss crucial issues relating to the peace process, the prevailing ceasefire and the political situation in the South. TNA Co-ordinator and MP Suresh Premachandran told the Sunday Observer that their discussions with the LTTE leadership will be mainly centred on the resumption of the negotiatory process with the UPFA government on the basis of the LTTE's Interim Self-Governing Authority (ISGA) proposal. The question of whom they would support as Speaker of the House when Parliament meets on April 22 will also be taken up for discussion at the Vanni meeting, he said. They expected the government to resume the peace process soon in the best interests of the country, he said. Commenting on the Eastern situation after the recent internecine conflicts within the LTTE, he said that the situation was quite calm and the five TNA MPs representing Batticaloa and Ampara were 'free of any pressure from any quarters'. |
