Mahagastota Cyclo Circuit races today National Mountain Biking Association's Cyclo Circuit Meet will be held today in Nuwara Eliya. It will be held at Nuwara Eliya Mahagastota Cyclo Circuit (alongside the Mahagastota Motor Cross). Registration of riders will start at 8 a.m. The first event will start at 9.30 a.m. Seven events will be on the card and spot entries will be accepted for all categories. The seven events are: Under-13, Under-16 and Under-19 for boys, the girls will have the under-19 event, while Masters, Fun, Open Sports for Men events will be held. The first six in each category will receive gifts and rider cycles. The plum award will be for the Open Sports Winner where he will receive an award for Rs. 22,000 which is partly in cash. There will be some foreign competitors as well to give the local riders tough competition. The events: Under-13 boys - 0.5 km (two laps), Under-16 boys (10 km - three laps). Under-19 boys (10 km five laps), Under-19 girls (10 km three laps), Open Masters (10 km five laps), Open Fun (10 km three laps), Open Sports (1km ten laps). The Mayor of Nuwara Eliya Chandana Lal Karunaratne will be the chief guest, while the guest of honour will be Karunaratne Paranavithana, Director of Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Limited and DIG K. P. P. Pathirana. |
