Kandy Boagambara Prison became overall champions in the inter-prisons track and field meet held at the Bogambara Stadium recently.

Badulla Prisons were runners-up.

Bogambara Prisons scored 251 points while the Badulla Prisons got 75 points. Kuruwita Prison, Ratnapura came 3rd, getting 71 points while Kalutara Prisons came 4th with 50 points.

Following are the individual champions:

Champion athlete men (open) - K. Chandrakumara (Batticaloa Prison), Women (Open) - K. G. Wasantha Pushpakumari (Trincomalee Prisons).

Champion athlete men (over 40) - S. A. P. Delgahapitiya (Bogambara), Women (over 40) - A. A. D. I. Attanayake (Badulla Prisons) and P. P. Irangani (Bogambara).

Champion athlete men (45-50) - K. A. N. Keerthi (Kalutara Prisons).

Champion athlete men (50-55) - A. K. Abeysekera (Kalutara Prisons) and K. N. V. D. Kulatunge (Mahara Prisons).

Champion athlete men (over 55) - C. H. K. Mahinatha (Bogambara Prisons).

Best performance (men) - L. D. N. Udayakumara (Kuruwita Prisons) and K. P. Asanga Nirosha (Kalutara Prisons).

Best performance (women) - K. G. Wasantha Pushpakumari (Trincomalee Prisons).

The meet was organised by Bogambara Prisons under the supervision of H. M. Walter Bandara, Superintendent of Prisons, Bogambara.
