Kandy Sports Special Corr

S. Mahindasinghe of Pallekelle and O.J. Sudantha of Gurudeniya won the Cycle Race and Road Race respectively of the Kandy Municipal Council Playgrounds Department held in Kandy last Sunday.

The Cycle Race was over a distance of 36 miles and Road Race was over a distance of 12 miles.

Cycle Race: 1. S. Mahindasinghe (Pallekelle), 2. Ranjith Dissanayake (Menikhinna), 3. Sundasiri Dissanayake (Weligulla), 4. Nissanka Weerasinghe (Katugastota), 5. Ramasamy Manoj Rajawella (Digana).

Road Race: 1. O.J. Sudantha (Gurudeniya), 2. Ranjan Prasanna (Dedanwala), 3. M.S. Ekanayake (Ampitiya), 4. Smantha Bandara (Gampola), 5. N.P. Bandara (Ampitiya), 6. W. gunaratne (Bogambara) 7. S.U. Liyanage (Mulgampola), 8. Namal Ariuasena (Gannoruwa), 9. L. Maheswaran (Pallekelle), 10. Sidath Laxitha (Gannoruwa).

Awards were distributed by messrs T. Wickremasinghe (Municipal Commissioner), Ilahi Abdeen (MMC - Chairman Sports Committee) and Sarath Wijesinghe (MMC).
