Solheim back again by S. Selvakumar Norwegian special envoy Erik Solheim will arrive tomorrow and his mission is aimed at reaching a compromise between the government and the LTTE on some thorny issues that have cropped up vis-…-vis the recommencement of the peace talks, knowledgeable political sources said. Solheim is expected to meet with President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga before proceeding to Kilinochchi to meet with the LTTE. This being an important mission, he is expected to meet with LTTE supremo Prabhakaran on Wednesday and on his return will meet government leaders again who are expected to form the team for talks. According to reliable information the thorny issues would be settled by June and a date and venue for the commencement of peace talks will be intimated by Norway to the parties concerned by July. |
