Samsung to 'invade' Sri Lanka

The World's first Digital Television manufacturer and global digital technology leader, " Samsung", recently announced its plans to set up operations in Sri Lanka within this year through an enhanced product presence, stronger product portfolio and an expanded channel and service network in Sri Lanka.

Samsung operations in Sri Lanka will now be under the purview of the newly formed Samsung South West Asia Regional Headquartered in New Delhi. The other countries in this region include Bangladesh, Nepal,Bhutan and Maldives.

At the media conference, President and CEO, Samsung Southwest Asia Regional Quarters, K.S Kim said that they hope to get a Gold brand name in the world, not only for electronic products but also for Information Technology and Telecommunication products. Announcing Samsung's plan for Sri Lanka Kim said that the setting up of Samsung South West Regional Headquarters will enable them to provide customers in Sri Lanka with products customized to better meet their needs. The Company at present markets colour TVs, home appliances, PC monitors and GSM mobile phones in the country while plans are underway to introduce Laser Beam Printers, Hard Disc Drives and OMS products.He said that they hope to achieve the 'Number one' market share in PC monitors by the end of this year in Sri Lanka.

Samsung has also introduced it wide range of innovative mobile phones to Sri Lanka including the entry model SGH R220 to the latest flashlight integrated camera phone the SGH X600 and the global hit model,the stylish SGH E700.

Samsung will continue to launch exciting and innovative products in Sri Lanka in the second half of 2004 including a series of colour slide-up phones and the SGH E800.

Chairman Kim said that their company also plans to set up exclusive services and strengthen its service infrastructure to better service the needs of its customers islandwide.
