Quick money making schemes

The Sri Lanka Banks' Association (Guarantee) Limited has expressed its concern at the several quick money making schemes that are being operated, specially amongst staff of various reputed companies. They have issued the following statement -

"It has been brought to our notice the involvement in various quick money making schemes by employees of various Mercantile organizations, including those in financial institutions. Some of these schemes, popularly identified as Pyramid Schemes offer attractive returns and are publicized through high quality impressive looking brochures. Since it appears that staff of some banks too may be participating in these schemes which calls for each participant to introduce two to three others, members of the public are cautioned against involvement in such schemes, some of which may be scams and the collapse of the so called Pyramid could cause losses to participants.

It is also necessary to emphasise that no commercial bank encourages such schemes and any member of the public taking part does it at his/her own risk even if the introducer is a person working in a banking institution."
