He was born in Badulla to a family of 11 children as the youngest among the boys. His father was a chief clerk at several tea estates while his mother was a housewife.

" I have attended several schools because as and when my father was transferred from one estate to the other my parents never left me at school boardings, but changed my schools."

This helped me to have a lot of friends though I was quite shy at that time, he said.

I was sent to my uncle in India to do my Advanced Level examination. Once I completed the A/L my uncle wanted me to study for a Masters Diploma in Computer Science.

The time was right since the IT boom was just setting in India and Sri Lanka. Once I completed the course I worked as a computer instructor in India before coming back to Sri Lanka.

Back in the country he started off as a freelance computer Instructor to several leading training institutes and corporates. After some time he moved into the field of marketing as a Marketing Executive selling computer hardware.

He has worked with diverse companies including blue chips and the hardware giants Compaq, IBM and AST Business partners which claim to be prominent outsourcing companies.

Muralidharen counts more than 13 years experience in the fields of computer hardware, software and as a lecturer and instructor in marketing.

At present he is the COO of Timex B.P.O an IT enabled service company.

It started very recently and employs around 60 people at present. Within the next 6-8 months we want to increase the employment to more than 200, he said.

Speaking of his future plans he said that he wants to end his career as a CEO of a well-known company.

" When I want something I don't wait for things to come to me instead I go behind and work hard to achieve it." Speaking of his career he said that he has never got an opportunity to work in a well-established, smooth-going department or company.

I have always been involved in the setting up and easing off of the initial teething problems at every company I worked, he said.

In addition to his Masters Diploma in Computer Science he holds a Diploma in Business Management from the UK and at present he is reading for his MBA.
