Rock Fest 2004 Rock musicians will welcome the news that a Rock Festival will be held by the International Music Centre in Sri Lanka; on a competition basis. The IMC is a member of the World Federation of Music in Brussels, Belgium. Funded by UNESCO the World Federation has held many such festivals in different categories of music to encourage and promote talent. The Rock Festival will be held on October 2 at the BMICH (Western Garden) commencing ten o'clock in the morning. According to the Director IMC, applications close on August 30, and the music should be originals. The bands are advised to have fifteen minutes sessions for the qualifying rounds and a thirty minute finale if they are selected for the top five bands. Also please be informed that a limited time of five minutes will be given to each band to set up and sound check. The winning band will receive a cash prize of Rs. 75,000 along with a trophy and certificates from IMC. The winners will represent Sri Lanka at a world music festival in Vienna in 2005.
