Sri Lanka Energy Managers Association At the Annual Award Presentation Ceremony of Sri Lanka Energy Managers Association (SLEMA) held recently, Minister of Power and Energy Hon. Susil Premajayantha presented two awards. SLEMA considers factors such as planning analysis, implementation and monitoring work done to save energy, to ensure that the savings achieved are measurable and substainable in giving these awards. Ceylon Petroleum Corporation Award was presented to Sumith M. Perera and his team at Ceylon Cold Stores (Pvt) Ltd (CCS) for energy efficiency projects implemented in their factory SLEMA was impressed by the energy forecasting and benchmaking exercise conducted by the team. CCS now saves over Rs. 800,000 a year in their boiler and the steam system by fuel switching. By air compressor management, CCS saves a further Rs. 1.2 million every year CCS has substantially improved their electrical system, too. Eng. M. W. Leelaratne, General Manager, National Engineering Research and Development Centre of Sri Lanka, received the SLEMA Award for the best energy-related study. The focus of his research was on the energy audit process. |
