Benjy was in a rush when we met him last week moving around attending to details to ensure that the band's opening night at Clancy's on August 18 goes through smoothly with no glitches. Aquarius will be exciting the groovers on Wednesday nights at Clancy's while on Thursdays the band will spread its vibes at Molly's till late in the night. Make sure you catch their sounds once again after they left us in mid March. "Our stay at the Quality Inn in Dubai was good" says Benjy "we were scheduled to play for three months but ended up staying an extra month by popular demand. We will be going back for the festive season hopefully in November to the Ramada Continental and the band and I are looking forward to it." Aquarius is fortunate to have the experienced keyboardist Udaya Welikala with them for their dates in Sri Lanka. Udaya as we all know was a solid keyboardist for the well-known group Friends, and Benjy is overjoyed that he is with Aquarius now. The other members of this exciting band are of course Shiran Munasinghe - vocals/drums, the glitz Sheru who has been with the band for the past three and a half years. She hails from the Maldives but is more Sri Lankan than the Sri Lankan boys in the band! Her vocal repertoire is wide and she sings Sinhala songs, baila, Hindi, Russian and says she enjoys herself singing long hours with the band. The other keyboardist is Ashan who was formerly with Dream Team and the guitarist Iresha one time a member of Heat. All the members are vocalists which gives Aquarius that extra thrust. Make the date with band at Clancy's and Molly's. |
