Bhikku MPs meet diplomats The Jathika Hela Urumaya (JHU) monks, changing their strategies to bring diplomatic pressure on the LTTE, last week met six Ambassadors and High Commissioners to explain their stand on the North-East problem and also to discuss the Anti-Conversion Bill. "They were very happy about our meeting as no clergymen had met them like us to discuss these two issues", JHU Secretary Uduwe Dhammaloka Thera told the Sunday Observer. The Bhikku MPs met the Ambassadors and High Commissioners of America, Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, India and Pakistan. They are scheduled to meet the French Ambassador this week. The Bhikkus have explained to the Ambassadors and High Commissioners that the LTTE should also consider the alternative proposals of the Government on the issue but the LTTE is only insisting that the Government accepts their proposals. JHU Leader Ven. Ellawala Medhananda and Theras Uduwe Dhammaloka, Kotapola Amarakeerthi and Akuratiye Nanda participated in the discussions. (JSN) |
