Kingswood and St. Peter's set up final Kanady Sports Corr Triple champions Kingswood College and St. Peter's College qualified to play in the finals of the Sri Lankan Airlines Schools Rugby Sevens Tournament organised by Kandy Sports Club run concurrently with the IRA World Cup Sevens Asian Region qualifying matches played at Nittawela yesterday. In the first of the schools 'semi finals, Kingswood College whipped Ananda College by 36 points (3 goals, 3 tries) to nil. At half time Kingswood led 12 - 0. Try scorers for Kingswood were scrum half Heshan Premaratne (1), winger Mohammed Jabbar (2), Full back Erande Weerakoddy (2) and prop Anuradha Gunasekera (1). Full back Erande Weerakoddy goalled three of the tries. Referee C. A. Madoru In the other semi finals, St. Peters College went on a rampage to trounce Royal College by 44 points (6 tries, 2 goals) to 7 (1 goal) after leading 24 - 0 at the breather. Try scorers for St. Peter's were scrum half Mohammed Sheriff (2) fly half Shan Khalid (1), centre Mohammed Rinaz (1), hooker Gayan Liyanage (1), prop Sajith Adhikari (1), prop Madheesha Silva (1) and winger Rizmy Razeen (1) - Fly half Mohammed Sheriff goalled two of the tries. Referee A. C. Tennakoon In the other matches Kingswood College beat St. Sylvester's 42 - 0, Ananda beat Vidyartha 31 - 12, Royal beat St. Anthony's 14-7, St. Peter's beat S. Thomas' 33-12 in the matches for the quarterfinal run up. In the Bowl Championships Wesley beat Trinity 19-0, Isipathana beat Dharmaraja 45-7. In the Plate Championships St. Sylvester's beat Vidyartha 26-19, and S. Thomas' beat St. Anthony 12 - 9 |
