Suvini 6 for 36, but Aussies dominate by Ranjan Anandappa Sri Lanka's left arm leg spinner Suvini de Alwis bowled an impressive spell of bowling to capture 6 for 36 in 10.4 overs and restrict Australia to 150 for 8 in their second innings. But the visitors were able to maintain a healthy 252-run overall lead at the end of the second day of their three-day women's cricket encounter against Sri Lanka at the R. Premadasa Stadium, Khettarama yesterday. In reply to the Aussies first innings total of 234, Sri Lanka, who were 13 for 3 overnight, went on to make 132 with Shashikala Siriwardena striking a useful 49. Aussies, going in for the second time with a lead of 102, were given a fine start by their openers Julie Woerner 47 and Leah Poulton 40 putting on 63 for the first wicket. But Suvini de Alwis applied the brakes on the visitors by strking useful blows to end up taking six wickets. |
