Noble thoughts for children You are the creators of the future world. If you are moulded and guided physically, mentally, spiritually and socially in unison, at least the future will be blissful. For that worthy cause, you ought to know that some are just and some are true. Many a people become deaf, dumb and blind before injustice and untruth. Close but careful association of a person will enlighten you to decide whether he/she is a true friend. You could smell in his or her nature, the fragrance. This experience will tell you that there are human beings among the scoundrels too! You are forever secure under your parents' wings. Never hurt them, challenge them or go against them. Their guidance, advice, protection and blessings are quite important for a better and successful future. Parents are the beacons. School is a place where we make mistakes, gain experience and learn. Every mistake corrected is a sure sign of improvement. Experience is the best teacher and education will make you a better person. There is no great person who excelled without going through mistakes experience and education. Make mistakes, but don't make this a habit. Failure is not a shame, but success through cheating and foul means is a grave shame.Be noble and gentle in all that you do. To God and to neighbours, be faithful and true. As a result, others will also be faithful to you. Then how sweet would life be! Always be gentle with gentle people and strict with the tough. Never be strong before the weak and bow down before the strong because that is cowardice. Do your duty without giving lame excuses and fighting for undue rights. If you adhere to your duty, you will be rewarded with your due rights. Your devotion and hard work towards duty will impress others and they will admire and love you. Love makes you live. But beware of anyone who loves you too much without close association. Friendly and healthy relationships will be an eye opener in making good and close friends. Never be a weak character because our heartless society criticises and laughs at the weak. Listen more, but talk less. Filter all you hear on a screen of truth and take only the good that comes through. Use your tongue to praise, encourage and for constructive criticism. Your tongue can be the root cause of all evils. Damaging the reputation of a person is worse than killing him/her. It's the biggest offence a person can do. Make yourself immune to all savage qualities like vengeance, suspicion, jealousy and envy. These will ultimately destroy you. It is easier to become a bookworm than a complete person with a smart personality. Enjoy the beauty of education through teachers, books and extra-curricular activities that help you shine in the future. Language and literature especially English will make you bold to face many a hindrance when you strive to achieve your goals in the future. You shampoo your hair to keep it clean and smart. You brush your teeth daily to be healthy and to give friendly smiles. But, if by chance, you happen to see a hair in your lunch or a tooth in your food, what would your feelings be? Ugh! If you happen to be in an unsuitable or unbefitting place where you damage your own, your family's and your school's dignity and reputation, what would be the result? The same unpleasant feeling you had when you saw the fallen tooth or hair would be experienced by other people towards you in such a situation. Be aware of your talents and use them for the good of others. Each one of you has different talents and if they are used collectively, then only can you realise the concept of 'Unity in Diversity' which is the secret of success in team work. Team spirit kills your egoistic complex. Have faith in yourself because then, you will always have sublime faith in mankind. Always speak the truth. Truth can relieve you. God is truth and He will bless you and protect you. Ajith Perera, Teacher of English, Anuruddha Madya Maha Vidyalaya, Lunuwila. |
