Textile technology from USA A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Textile Training and Services Centre (TTSC) Clothing Industry Training Institute (CITI), two leading professional organizations of textile and clothing in Sri Lanka and the North Carolina State University College of Textiles, a leading academic and research institution for textile technology in the world was signed on 26th October, 2004, in USA. The MoU envisages exchange of scholars, faculty, research and extension programmes in the area of textile technology. The MoU was signed by Dr. Upananda Vidanapathirana Secretary to the Ministry of Industry and Investment Promotion and also Chairman of both institutes on behalf of Sri Lanka and by Prof. Nancy Cassill of Department of Textiles and Apparel, Technology and Management of North Carolina State University on behalf of North Carolina State University. The MoU signed is for a period of five years and is renewable after completion of five years if both parties agreed. This MoU was signed to enhance the educational capabilities of above institutions. It has been proposed, that collaborations and exchanges be initiated in fields of common expertise and interest. The programmes that will be initiated through this agreement are based on the spirit of cooperation, reciprocity, and mutual benefit to both parties. |
