Ven. Medhananda to reunite party

by Jayantha Sri Nissanka

Jathika Hela Urumaya (JHU) leader Ven. Ellawala Medhananda Thera plans to reunite his party by summoning a face-to-face meeting of rival members soon to iron out differences in order to forge ahead to achieve party's set goals. The party was in fragments due to internal disputes among monks and laymen. The Sihala Urumaya also collapsed due to differences among the members.

When contacted a popular Buddhist priest who has earned the wrath of the laymen in the party, Ven. Uduwe Dhammaloka Thera said that he would not leave the party in fear as he could not run away leaving the responsibilities entrusted to him by the people.

However, he had positively responded to the letter sent to him by Ven. Medhananda Thera to protect the unity in the party for collective action in the future on behalf of Buddhists in the country.
