It's on again - ANCL's Tour-de-Lanka Dec 7 to 12 The cycling classic - the Tour-de-Lanka, has been revived after about a decade. It is to be held this year over six days, covering over 1,000 kms from December 7 to 12. The Tour-de-Lanka is organised by Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Limited (ANCL) and conducted by the Interim Committee of the Cycling Federation of Sri Lanka (CFSL). The race will be conducted in five stages with the first stage start opposite Lake House on December 7 to Anuradhapura via Puttalam Road, second stage on December 8 from Anuradhapura to Trincomalee via Habarana, third stage on December 9 from Trincomalee to Kandy via Dambulla and Matale, Fourth stage on December 11 from Kandy to Ratnapura via Kegalle and Avissawella and the fifth stage on December 12 from Ratnapura to Matara to finish at Nupe via Horana, Kalutara and Galle. There will also be a Circuit Race round the Kandy Lake on December 10. The Cycling Federation's Interim Committee also disclosed that they are making every attempt to get down top riders from Holland, Thailand, Malaysia, Mongolia, Pakistan and India too for the revived Tour-de-Lanka which is to be staged on a grand scale this year. There will also be a Standard Race for men on December 12 from Ratnapura to Matara, while a Standard Race for women too is to be worked off also on December 12 from Galle to Matara. Details and entry coupons will appear in the ANCL publications soon. The inaugural meeting was held on Friday evening attended by ANCL's Director (Editorial), Karunaratne Paranavitharana, and Mrs. Sonali Dissanayake (Director, Finance) together with two membners of the Interim Committee of the Cycling Federation of Sri Lanka (CFSL), Sanjeewa Muttiah and Nilantha Fernando.
