Grooming tomorrow's leaders

Carson Cumberbatch and Company Limited and AIESEC, in collaboration with the Career Guidance Unit of the University of Kelaniya, will launch 'Grooming Future Leaders' during the first week of December.

It is a leadership development program for 80 first- year students from the university of Kelaniya.

Explaining the aims of the workshop General Manager Group, Human Resource-Carson Cumberbatch Pvt Ltd Bennett Patternott said that for this workshop selected students by will be interviewd by qulified personel for which no fee will be charged.

The workshop will consist of interpersonal skills of the undergraduates focusing on abilities such as communication skills, project management, team management, leadership and presentation skills.

He said it will be conducted by selected trainers from AIESEC and the corporate sector over a period of one year.Patternott also said that this is a very successful workshop with a good demand. They hope to introduce it to Ruhunu University as well in the near future.

According to Patternott within the last four years Carson Cumberbatch and Co.Ltd was involved in building leadership skills through career guidance sessions and monitoring programs among university students.

Since 2002 the company has also organized the program 'Shaping Young Minds', an annual one day Leadership Workshop for over 350 school prefects covering almost all the district in Sri Lanka including the North and East.

Speaking at the press briefing, President AIESEC of Kelaniya University Dhanushka Tennakon said :"As university students now we know the potential of learning and this is a good opportunity we have.

Further he said "we can introduce AIESEC as the international platform for young people to discover and develop their potential and make a positive impact on society".
