Bodyline awarded CIMA training quality partner status Bodyline was awarded the CIMA Training Quality Partner Status at a ceremony held recently at the Colombo Hilton in the presence of Prof. Roland Kaye - President CIMA UK and Mr. Charles Tilley - CEO of CIMA UK. The event was conducted by the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) Sri Lanka Division. This status was based on an evaluation criteria which looked into corporate policies and plans which support students in acquiring the CIMA qualification and developing their career within the organization, and further provide financial assistance to underpin training plans for management accountants. With this recognition CIMA students will receive benefits from CIMA UK, and their experience will be recognized when applying for membership. Bodyline, a joint venture between Limited Brands (USA), Triumph International (Germany) and MAS Holdings (Sri Lanka), is a manufacturer of ladies foundation apparel, and is ranked as one of the largest foundation apparel manufacturers in South Asia. Company's Human Resources strategy is such that employees of all grades are issued with a clearly defined job description which identifies key competencies in performing their job roles at the time of recruitment. The company continuously strive to develop its human capital which has been a critical success factor towards the growth of the organization. All training and development initiatives are focused on the job responsibilities and enhancing competencies required for the job roles across the organization. In this effort, training and development initiatives flow across the organization from operator to management grade, and each individual who is recruited as a trainee sewing machine operator goes through a comprehensive six weeks training at a fully dedicated Training Centre to enhance both their technical and other behaviourial skills. We also train supervisors and team leaders on basic skills of counselling in addition to various training and development activities as we believe that they are the first interaction with their individual teams. Bodyline has effectively fostered a Continuous Improvement culture where Suggestion Scheme, Quality Circles and small teams are operating successfully, and the members of each of these initiatives are trained and their voluntary efforts are recognized and rewarded as it contributes towards process improvement of the organization. Further, there is a structure in place for training and development of Executives and staff and they are encouraged to follow professional courses for which the company extends financial and other assistance to enable them to complete these. |
