CEAT goes outward bound Thirty three top executives of Sri Lanka's premier tyre manufacturing company CEAT recently participated in an Outward Bound Training (OBT) program to build leadership and teamwork through physically challenging activities. The Outward Bound Training was conducted by Outward Bound Trust of Sri Lanka, an affiliate of Outward Bound International of Utah USA in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Business Development Centre. CEAT's CEO/Managing Director Oscar Braganza who was also a participant of the OBT said three gruelling days of adventure experiences have instilled a high sense of team spirit and discipline, enabling the executives to enhance inter-departmental co-operation and improve efficiency in addition to fostering friendship and trust within the organisation. The program required a high degree of concentration, strategic planning, team effort and innovation, Mr. Braganza said adding that the physical and mental capabilities of all participants were stretched to the limit during the entire programme. Key areas covered under the OBT enabling participants to acquire skills to cope in a fast moving and highly competitive environment included leadership, initiative, communication, decision-making, co-operation, risk taking, trust team work, optimum utilization of resources, crisis management, innovation, time management, response to change, observation skills, concentration skills and emphasis on health and safety. An ISO 9001:2000 certified company, CEAT and its joint venture and associate companies in Sri Lanka manufacture an extensive range of tyres at plants in Kalutara and Kelaniya. The company has exported more than 1250 container loads of tyres to date to India, Dubai, Singapore, Philippines, Africa and countries in the SAARC region. |
