Investing in rambuttans Rambuttan, the succulent fruit loved by locals and foreigners alike is now selling at Rs. 9 to 10 each because it is the off season. Even during the July-August season when the fruit is available in plenty it sells at a reasonable price so much so that a person having a few rambuttan trees in the back garden can earn a good supplementary income for the family. Rambuttan growers can now almost double or treble their income by shelving traditional cultivation methods and resorting to new cultivation techniques by obtaining the advice of agricultural instructors. Sadaharitha Agri Investments (Pvt) Ltd., a leading agriculture business firm in Sri Lanka has introduced a short term investment plan to enable rambuttan growers to maximise their incomes, through novel methods. Small investors can become owners of a luxurious rambuttan cultivation by investing in this company. Each such investor will automatically become entitled to a free insurance policy as well. Each investor will also gain 100 per cent ownership of a new rambuttan cultivation which will be ready for harvesting within four years. The investor has the option of selling his produce to the company or any outside buyer of his or her choice, said Sales Manager of Sadaharitha Agri Investments Thishan Jayawardene. Jayawardene said the company provides the money back guarantee for all investors. The plantation of rambuttan will be handled by the Fruit Crop Research and Development Centre of the Ministry of Agriculture. Planting material quality is certified by the Ministry. All advisory services will be provided by qualified agricultural officers under the direct supervision of state institutions and professionals in the field.
