Ananda regains P.W.Perera trophy by Ranjan Anandappa Ananda regained the P.W.Perera trophy from the jaws of a certain outright defeat by virtue of their slender 7-run lead in the first innings in an exciting school cricket match which ended in a draw at Ananda Mawatha yesterday. The Anandians had to score 153 runs to win in 22 overs and were struggling at 46 for 8 at close. Ananda were in for a rude shock on their run chase when they lost wickets at regular intervals and were reeling at 7 for 25 in 9.4 overs. Dharmaraja skipper Chamara Kapugedera did the early damage by capturing 4 wickets. For the home team, only P. Boteju (21) entered double figures as the rest failed to cope up with the medium pace of Kapugedera and the left-arm spin of Tharindu Perera who shared six wickets between them. In reply to Dharmaraja's first innings score of 240, Ananda who were 165 for 5 overnight, were all out for 247. Rukshan Sooriyarachchi bowled best for the Kandy school taking 5 for 77. There were two good batting performances by Dharmaraja's Chatura Bandara who followed up his first innings 112 with a fine 60 with two sixes and four fours in the second innings.
