Minister suffers in silence by Rohan Mathes Christian Affairs Minister Milroy Fernando asserts his innocence as a politician, but admits wrongdoing and retribution from God, to suffer in solitude. Milroy Fernando in an exclusive interview to the Sunday Observer at his ministry office Thursday said with remorse, "from today I have to go home and live in solitude sans my spouse. Besides my children, there would be nobody to speak to me, even for a quarrel. I have erred. I dont deny it. Iam suffering in silence. This is the retribution from God". He explained that he strived his utmost to avert such an unprecedented tragedy involving his family. He had even despatched his slain mistress Charlotte Theresa Fernando abroad for greener pastures, at his expense. It is only after this gruesome event that he knew his mistress was yet in Sri Lanka. "I have not murdered anybody. Neither have I assisted anyone in it. I have no link whatsoever in this", he stressed. "However, I regret very much that the media has given it a twist and made me the perpetrator with the emphasis on my portfolio of Christian Affairs Minister. They killed me thrice. First when the murder took place. Second when the case was heard and punishment was meted out. This is the third time. They would not have cared so much if I was a normal citizen". |
