Buddhist village chief killed in Thai Muslim south BANGKOK, Saturday, Gunmen on motorcycles shot and killed a Buddhist village chief and threw a bomb into a policeman's house in two separate incidents on Saturday in Thailand's troubled mainly Muslim south, officials said. One of two men on a motorcycle shot the 48-year-old official in the back as he rode home from a meeting of construction workers at a building site, a policeman in the province of Pattani told Reuters. In a separate incident in nearby Yala province, men on a motorcycle threw a bomb into a policeman's house but it did not explode, an officer said. |
