PM to open Amanwella beach resort

Amanwella, the latest beach resort owned by Aman Resorts will be opened on March 15 at Tangalle by Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakse.

Aman Resorts which operates in 17 countries owns two properties in Sri Lanka and the new resorts are the latest to be added to the chain.

The US$ 14 million resort has been built on a property spanning 30 acres. It has 30 upmarket villas and each villa has a plunge pool.

The room rates of these hotels are over US$ 400 per night and Aman resorts have loyalists who patronise only their chain of hotels known as Aman 'Junkees'.

This upmarket boutique hotel will provide employment to about 150 persons as the guest employee ratio is very high at all Aman resorts.

The first resort with an investment of US$ 10 million opened in Galle in December is known as Amangalla. In Sri Lanka Aman resorts are owned by The Aman Group in Singapore and the Univogue Group in Sri Lanka.

A promoter of the venture Vashee Mohinani said that the Aman Group is very upbeat and extremely positive about their investment in Sri Lanka and added that they will support the country in all possible ways.
