SLJBC to woo Japanese investors The Sri Lanka-Japan Business Co-operation (SLJBC) is planning to organise a series of trade exhibitions by the end of the year covering major cities in Japan to attract Japanese investors. This would give an excellent opportunity to promote Sri Lankan brands in Japan in a big way, Senior Committee Member SLJBC Dr. M.G.M.S. Zurfick said. He said that they will hold exhibitions in Osaka, Fukoka, Hiroshima, Kita-Kyshu and Hokkaido. They will exclusively promote Sri Lankan products which have a potential market in Japan. "We will be exhibiting all Sri Lankan products under one roof. These exhibitions will focus mainly on Sri Lanka's gem and jewellery", Dr Zurfick said. The balance of trade is not favourable to Sri Lanka as its imports are higher than its exports to Japan and the need of the hour is to increase exports to Japan, Dr Zurfick said. These trade fairs will also be used as an opportunity to enlighten Japanese business chambers and trade related associations in areas where the exhibitions are held, he said. Dr Zurfick said that they intend to promote Sri Lankan goods to be manufactured in Japan with the help of Sri Lankan labour. |
