New currency notes

The Central Bank of Sri Lanka will issue into circulation shortly Sri Lanka Heritage Series (existing series) currency notes of Rs. 1,000, 500, 100, 50, 20 and 10 denominations bearing the signatures in facsimile of Dr. Sarath L. B. Amunugama, Minister of Finance and Planning and Sunil Mendis, Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, a media release from the Central Bank said.

These notes will bear the serial prefixes and numbers G/156 000001 onwards in respect of Rs. 1,000, H/97 000001 onwards in respect of Rs. 500, J/336 000001 onwards in respect of Rs. 100, K/220 000001 onwards in respect of Rs. 50, L/261 500001 onwards in respect of Rs. 20 and M/387 190001 onwards in respect of Rs. 10.

The date on the note will be 2004.07.01.
