Lahiru leads and Royalist Wijeratne comes into second spot in OBSERVER-BATA Contest Lahiru Peiris - the Peterite schoolboy won the OBSERVER-BATA Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer All-Island last year is all set to win this year's competition as well. At the end of voting on coupon No. 6, Peiris had totalled 6,586 votes to lead the voting. In second place there is a newcomer in Royalist Dulanjaya Wijeratne who was third last week. Wijeratne has a total of 5,652 votes - that's 934 votes behind leader peiris. Trinitian Sachith Pathirana who was second last week has pulled out of the competition. Trinity Principal Mr. Rod gilbert has written to us saying that they do not permit their students to be entered into the Schoolboy Cricketer Contest. So, Pathirana's name has been taken out of the contest. There are not many changes among the top runners with Promodth Fernando coming into third position with 2,896 votes and Kaushal Silva of S. Thomas' fourth with 1,541 votes and Hashan Gunatilleke of St. Joseph's coming in as fifth with 1,537 votes. In the Outstation Contest, the top three places remain unchanged with Andy Solomans of St. Thomas' Kotte leading with 3,140 votes, Mohammed Shakir of Azhar College, Akurana second 2,421 votes E. V. Ganegoda of Vidyartha Kandy third with 1,379 votes and L. Manchanayake of St. Sylvester's climbing one place up from fifth to fourth with 834 votes. |
