Venezuela and Iran Sign 23 Agreements Caracas, Mar 11(Prensa Latina) Presidents of Venezuela and Iran, Hugo Ch vez and Mohammad Khatami, have signed more than twenty cooperation and integration agreements aimed at boosting and broadening bilateral relations. Related documents signed at Miraflores Palace will allow both countries to jointly implement economic projects in the fields of finance, housing and energy, among others. Agreements on mutual investment protection and avoiding double taxation were also signed by both top officials. Previously, Khatami and Chavez met in private while ministerial delegations from both countries discussed the scope of the agreements, as well as follow-up and assessment strategies. In signing these pacts, Iran and Venezuela have formalized a policy of fair exchange and investment in technological transfer, and consolidated social, cultural, and political exchanges as their two economies complement each other. Today Khatami is expected to deliver a speech before Venezuela's National Assembly. On Saturday, both presidents will travel to Ciudad Bol¡var, 366 miles from this capital, to attend the opening of a tractor factory. |
