Tos Lanka to penetrate Indian electronics market by Hiran H. Senewiratne Tos Lanka, a Japanese owned BOI electronics manufacturing company is in the process of expanding its factory with an investment of Rs. 500 million to penetrate into the Indian market through the Indo-Sri Lanka Free Trade Agreement (ISFTA). The company's core activity is surface mounting of Printed Circuit Boards using high speed chip mounters, manufactured by Panasonic supported by updated soldering systems including lead free soldering, its President Jitsuo Mikasa said. He said the factory expansion will mainly focus on manufacturing Liquid Crystal Diode (LCD) for automated and cellular industries for the Indian markets. "We are going to the Indian Market, while moving along Chinese technology," Mikasa told a media conference at the company's factory premises at Biyagama. There is a hesitancy towards the change within the industry but we are adapting to the change. We want to follow the changes in technology to enter the Indian market, he said. The company is planning to produce Energy Saving Lamps for India in compliance with the value addition requirements of the ISFTA, he said. |
