Probing attacks on Tigers by Ananth Palakidnar on the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam in the Eastern province which concluded its first sitting in Ampara last week will commence its second sittings in Batticaloa tomorrow Monday. The Presidential Commission appointed to look into the recent attacks on the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) in the Eastern province which concluded its first sitting in Ampara last week will commence its second sittings in Batticaloa tomorrow Monday. The special Presidential Commission headed by Batticaloa High Court Judge J. Viswanathan has recorded the evidence given by Eastern Province DIG Neville Wijesinghe and several other senior officials from the STF and police from Ampara, Batticaloa and Thirukovil at its first sitting which was held between March 28 to 30. According to the Secretary of the Commission A.R.M. Kaleel, Registrar District Courts, Kalmunai, altogether evidence of thirteen witnesses has been recorded during the first sittings and they are all from the police and the STF. He said that at the second sittings of the Commission in Batticaloa on Monday, Brigadier H.M.H.A. Herath from Welikanda and a Lt. Colonel along with two civilians would appear before the Commission.On Wednesday, Eastern Province SLMM Head Sdeen Jorgensen would give his evidence to the Commission. |
