ANCL celebrates Vesak on grand scale

by Don Asoka Wijewardena

The Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Ltd (ANCL) will celebrate this year's Vesak Festival in a grand scale with the participation of both public and private sector organisations. In addition to this, around 500 to 600 three-wheelers will be decorated with flags carrying amadahara emblem.

ANCL Consultant Karunaratne Paranavithana said that the Lake House had decided to celebrate Vesak festival in an spectacular way as a number of public and private sector organisations had shown a great interest to illuminate the Colombo city to show their devotion. He said that an operational committee had already been formed to monitor and organise all activities pertaining to the vesak festival and added that four pandals at different locations will be erected with Buddhist flags including the flags with amadahara emblem.

The ANCL Chairman Janadasa Peiris is the chairman of the operational committee and Ven. Dr. Itthademaliye Indrasara Thera is the patron of the committee.

Vesak lantern competitions, musical shows, dansals and bakthi gee competitions will also be arranged.
