CID on Therapuththabhaya trail

by a Staff Correspondent

The CID has begun to investigate those who were behind the Therapuththabhaya Brigade which has claimed responsibility for killing journalist D. Sivaram.

According to preliminary investigations only a few including Free Media Movement Coordinator Sunanda Deshapriya, Ravaya Editor Victor Ivan, Executive Director of the Centre for Policy Alternatives Dr. Pakiyasothy Saravanamuthu, Coordinator Lionel Guruge, Senior Researcher Asanga Welikala have received death threats.

The CID was surprised to note that letters had been sent only to those who are not with the government.

None of those who support the government nor those who were involved in the peace process or state media have received such threats.

According to analysts an Opposition party seems to be behind this movement. This letter has been couched in the language usually used by the JVP and the JHU to direct the blame on them.
