Abans Environmental Services helps tsunami victims Employees of Abans Environmental Services who were affected by the tsunami on December 26 were recently compensated with monetary and other help from Abans and ISS - Denmark. Two were killed and nearly 150 employees lost their belongings and 28 lost their houses. The company promptly initiated a fund-raising campaign for relief. The employees contributed approximately Rs. 7.9 million (US$79,000) to the fund. ISS (International Service System), the largest Facility Management Company in the world and a Fortune 500 Company, with whom Abans Environmental Services has a tie-up, contributed more than half the amount towards the fund after carefully scrutinising the damage and the state of those affected. Similarly, the Swiss ISS too sent a sizeable donation whilst Abans Group of Companies' employees collected from their monthly salaries a significant amount for the relief. The families of the dead and other affected employees received a considerable amount each, to enable them to return to normalcy. Abans Ltd., a member of the Group is in the process of obtaining a five- acre-land to build houses for those whose houses were devastated in the calamity. The company will solely undertake the infrastructure, development and all other utility features of the project, adhering to expert consultations.
