Another daylight killing by Jayampathy Jayasinghe A proprietor of a fish stall at the St. John's Market Pettah was shot dead by an unidentified assassin in broad daylight at College Street, Kotahena on Friday evening, police said. The Kotahena Police identified the victim as one Joseph Anthony Susay Anthony Dominic (35) a fish vendor who was shot on his neck, back and the ear with a pistol whilst driving a red coloured Nissan Blue Bird vehicle. The victim was a close relative of an underworld drug lord of Modera, Kimbulawella Gune, sources said. Kotahena Police said that the victim had died instantaneously after being shot three times by an assassin around 4.50 p.m. No one had witnessed the incident and the police are investigating the motive for the killing. It is still not known whether he was shot by one person or many. No one has been arrested so far in connection with the killing. The Colombo Court No 3, Magistrate Mr. Pilapitiya visited the scene of murder yesterday. The post-mortem examination was held by the JMO Colombo yesterday. Further investigations are being made by OIC Kotahena Inspector D.L.B. Appuhamy and OIC Crimes Kotahena Sub- Inspector Silva. |
