Finest classic and modern vehicles showcased The Formula Plus-Sri Lanka Motor Show, which was held from May 21 to 23 at the BMICH, showcased some of the world's finest classic and modern vehicles in the country. It was organised by Sri Lanka Insurance (SLI) together with the Classic Car Club of Ceylon and the Ceylon Motor Manufacturers' and Traders (CMTA) and attracted a record crowd. All new vehicle franchise holders this year were provided with all facilities and two wings at the BMICH to exhibit their latest offerings. The organisers said this was one of the largest motorshows organised by them with a hundred-and-forty fine classic cars participating in this year's event. Among the vehicles showcased was a very rare 1916 Hupmobile saloon car, well maintained Mercedes Benz saloons manufactured between 1950-60, a 1924 Rolls Royce Sedan and an awesome Jaguar SS Road Master of 1937. In the modern vehicle and accessories segment, a host of franchisees used this opportunity to showcase the latest vehicles and accessories as well as to launch new models to the Sri Lankan market. A special exhibit was a rare 1919 Albion lorry, one of the few surviving specimens of its kind in the world today. Formula Plus, a comprehensive motor insurance policy, offered by SLI received wide publicity at this event. The customer service representatives attached to the SLI stall at the main entrance helped all visitors. Visitors who purchased tickets were offered a chance to win a return air-ticket to Singapore by filling a coupon attached to their ticket. |
