Bin Laden of Latin America - Privileged terrorist
A fugitive from justice in Venezuela he has been smuggled to the United States through the connivance of the Cuban exiles in Miami, USA with the knowledge of intelligence officers of the US. Exposure of his presence in the US and international Media led to his arrest in the US under immigration laws and his case is scheduled to be heard in Florida on June 13. Posada Cariles, who was indicted in Venezuela escaped from prison and was at large for several years. The Venezuelan government has requested the United States to extradite him to Venezuela to face trial. The US is obliged under the extradition treaty it has signed with Venezuela as well as under OAS and UN decisions to extradite him there. As a terrorist activist trained by the CIA and used by it on many occasions, the US is attempting to deport him to a third country after trying him for the minor offence of breaking immigration laws instead of extraditing him to Venezuela. The behaviour of the United States in this case does not correspond to its declared intentions on the War on Terror. Its attempts to shield Latin America's most noted terrorist smells of nothing but sheer hypocrisy compared with its invasion of Iraq to get rid of one "terrorist" - Sadam Hussein. |
