PTOMS: No division of country - Alavi by Ananda Kannangara Western Province Governor Alavi Mowlana yesterday commenting on the benefits for the country in setting up the tsunami relief structure now known as PTOMS, said that this agreement would never divide the country as stated by certain sections in our own society. In an interview with the Sunday Observer, Governor Mowlana said that signing an agreement with the LTTE to rebuild a part of our own land has a minor issue and asked how the country could go forward when some sections were opposing such important programs. "At a time when a large number of donor countries focus their attention towards the tsunami rebuilding activities in our country, we as peace loving people, who always admire the unity and harmony among communities, must strengthen the hands of the President in her endeavour to usher peace to the whole nation," he said. The Governor also said that the Government was going to set up PTOMS to eliminate suffering of a large number of our own people in the North and East and not to divide the nation" he said. |
