In year 2003, Peiris played for Carey Baptist Grammar School in Kew and did well and was awarded the batting trophy.

Whilst in Melbourne, he played for the Old Peterite cricket team that won the one-day six-a-side competition conducted at the Barry Simon Hills on Australia day 2003.

Peiris 3rd year coloursman, right-hand middle-order batsman, fared well in this year's 'Big Match' and limited over encounter against the Joes. Peiris scored over 500 runs this season, with the top score being against Gurukula Vidyalaya 108 and 3 half-centuries against Royal, De Mazenod and Ananda Sastralaya, Kotte.

He toured with the national Under-15 team to UAE for the Under-15 Asia Cup. Peiris' 'A' level student, is also in the Sri Lanka Under-19 World Cup Squad for 2006 to be held in Sri Lanka.
