39 swimmers in South Asian Games squad by Leslie Fernando Thirty nine swimmers, 26 men and 13 women have been selected by Sri Lanka Aquatic Sports Union (SLASU) for the proposed national swimming squad in preparation for the South Asian Games to be held in Colombo next year. The 39 swimmers were selected on their performances based on the timing recorded between September 2004 and May 2005. The squad will train under five coaches with the National Swimming coach, E.G.A. Wilson being overall charge from August 15. The national swimming squad will remain 'open' to any swimmer who can achieve the set criteria to be in the national swimming squad. The five coaches were selected only on their rating in the performance of the practical training they received under the tutelage of the American Swimming Coaches Association Technical Director - Guy Edson, said Fernando. |
