Women too at Cricket Sixes

The pharmacists are all for fielding two women each in the upcoming annual six-a-side cricket tournament.

This among three other events namely - athletics, netball and tug-of-war will be the main line-up of events at the 19th Pharma Promoters Association (PPA) 'Outdoor Sports Festival 2005' to be held at the Mercantile Cricket Association (MCA) grounds on October 1 and 2, according to Pradeep Edward Emerchemie, President of the PPA at a media briefing last Friday at the MCA.

He said that some 20 pharmaceutical teams including some club cricketers would compete in the six-a-side tournament at the festival which was mainly fostering a sense of togetherness among their fraternity. The Association itself would bear the Rs.3 lakhs cost.

Their would be more participants than last year with the growth of membership.

There would also be the annual quiz programme and indoor events.

The chief guest will be Mahanama Dodampegama, Director, Baurs Ltd. who is also the President of the Sri Lanka Chamber of Commerce. (S.O.)
