Harbour and airport in Hambantota soon by Thihagoda Group Correspondent Poverty and unemployment in the South could be resolved with the constructions of the proposed new harbour at Hambantota and the international airport at Koggala. The foundation stone laying ceremony for the new harbour at Hambantota will be held on November 13 by the President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga, said Ports and Civil Aviation Minister and Deputy Minister of Education Mangala Samaraweera addressing meetings at Thihagoda, Kirinda Puhulwella and Kamburupitiya recently. During the past UNP regimes they have failed to commence these development projects. Necessary lands for the new international airport at Koggala have already been acquired by the government. Minister Samaraweera urged all UPFA activists to work hard and canvass from door to door for more votes to ensure the victory of common presidential candidate Mahinda Rajapakse.
