Fingara Mercantile Squash next month The inaugural Fingara Mercantile Squash Championships conducted by the Fingara Town and Country Club in conjunction with the Sri Lanka Squash Federation (SLSF) will be staged on the Fingara courts from December 10 to 18. The President of the SLSF, Colonel Rohan Anthonisz, said that this tournament will provide the opportunity for players in the mercantile sector to compete in a competitive tournament. He said that 11 events are scheduled to take place. They are - Mens Open, Mens Over 35, Mens Over 45, Mens Over 55, Womens Open, Womens Over 35, Womens Over 45, Womens Over 55, Mens Novices, Womens Novices as well as a team event. Deputy Chairman F & G Group, Mervyn Jayasinghe, said that the Fingara Town and Country Club is proud to be associated in conducting the first ever Mercantile Championships soon after the successful completion of the Fingara Open Championship which saw a record number of competitors. He added that the Fingara Club offers a range of sports for its members, including entertainment facilities. Fingara offers sports like Squash, Tennis, Badminton, Basketball, Table Tennis, Swimming, Bowling, and even possess cricket nets, modern gymnasium, Aerobics centre, kids play area, restaurant, coffee shop, pub, karaoke bar, seminar and conference rooms in addition to fabulous dining area on the terrace or in its cosy confines. Among the others present at the media briefing were Captain Palitha Weerasinghe (Vice-President of SLSF), Mohan Perera (Executive Director of F & G Group), Hiran Serasinghe (General Manager of Fingara Club) and Flt.
