President sworn in

President Mahinda Rajapakse was sworn in as the fifth Executive President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka by Chief Justice Sarath N. de Silva at a solemn but colourful ceremony at the Presidential Secretariat, Colombo yesterday afternoon.

Secretary General of the Asgiriya Maha Vihara Chapter of the Siyam Maha Nikaya Ven. Professor Warakawe Dhammaloka Nayake Thera said that the election of Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakse as the Fifth Executive President of Sri Lanka was a victory for the people of Sri Lanka.
