As the season of merriment kicks off...

Galadari Hotel

The Galadari Hotel started the season from December 1 with music especially chosen for the season and a special cocktail menu at the Lobby Bar, to enjoy a cocktail while you breeze through its other Christmas specials throughout the month.

Not forgetting the kids, Galadari also had a Santa's mail box in the lobby so that the children could write to Santa and drop in their letters, from the 10th to 24th December. Of course Santa would spare some time to drop in during the Christmas day lunch buffet at the coffee shop to distribute gifts for those who desired them.

Also, Santa could be seen at the Lobby from the 20th - 24th from 6.00 p.m. - 8 pm. and 12 noon to 2.00 p.m. on 25 December as he'd promised the kids to surprise them.

Gayathrie Patrick, Soporano William Patrick, accompanist performed from December 18 to 23 and they'll perform on 25th December from 7.30 p.m. onwards at the Lobby Centre.

What's more, the 'cafe 64' pastry shop and garden terrace, the hotel's pastry shop and chocolate shop offer heaps and heaps of the finest selections on freshly made cake, pastries, breads and hand-made chocolates. The wickedly delicious array of sweets includes rich geteaux, exquisite cheese cake and delightful tarts, variety of ice creams and chilled beer.


Colombo Hilton

Seasonal goodies such as Christmas cake, Christmas pudding, love cakes, yule logs, cookies and many more sweet treats are available from December 10-30.

The hotel offers lunch on December 25 with Santa at the coffee shop including a magic show and kiddies corner. Music will be provided by Nalin and the star combination. Families can join in the carols from 12 noon to 2 p.m.

A scrumptious international dinner buffet is also arranged at the coffee shop on December 25 with all the seasonal trimmings and many more stuff at its other restaurants just to make this X-mas a special one.

Ready to move on? Well the next stop being the Colombo Hilton, which invites all those who dream of a white Christmas to come make the dreams a reality there... Fine things Gingerbread house will offer you a variety of delicious Christmas goodies such as traditional Christmas cake, yule log, warm breuther, X-mas cookies, assorted nuts, dried fruit, hampers and your other favourites, from December 1-29.

Carols will be sung by the Hilton choir at the Thorana Lounge from December 20-25 at 8 p.m. Of course Santa will visit the hotel from December 20-25 from 8 p.m. to 9.30 p.m. Live jazz music to get you in the festive mood from December 20-25. Also a delicious lunch, a 5 course set menu on December 25 is organised at Spoons'. With many more different lunch buffets at the other restaurants, Hilton will also hold a 6 course set menu dinner on the same day at 'Spoons'.

Coming to the Cinnamon Grand, that brings the essence of the season, invites you to take a break from the hectic shopping sprees. The coffee stop will serve a range of festive ice cream specialities and Christmas pudding, Mulled Wine Sherbert, Egg nog and panettone till December 31.

The Tea Lounge will serve Christmas high tea with all the trimmings and flavours associated with the popular English afternoon ritual, every weekend, from 3 to 5.30 p.m. Also, the Tea Lounge offers one of the world's finest champagne to indulge in with luscious strawberries till December 31.

And for those who long to celebrate the season of merriment, delightful cocktail concoctions in a blend of flavours will be available at the Breeze Bar till the end of the month. The Taprobane offers a traditional Christmas lunch and dinner feast on December 25. The hotel Taj Samudra, yet another stop during the season celebrates X-mas in style. Carols will be sung till December 25 at the lobby and Santa himself will be present at the lobby on December 24 & 25.

Coming down to the seasonal happenings at Ceylon Continental Hotel it kicks the season off with a hamper offer 2005. A Christmas breakfast will be served at Cafe Emerald. Also inviting you to dine beneath the stars, an array of seafood delicacies is prepared at the Pearl Seafood Restaurant on Christmas Day from 9 p.m. to midnight.

Not forgetting the Indian food covers, the hotel's arranged a selection of North Indian delights at the Authentic North Indian Restaurant 'Tandoor' which will feature a special a La Carte on Christmas Day.
