England
visually handicapped cricketers make historic tour of Sri Lanka
History will be created when the England team of visually handicapped cricketers make a week's tour of Sri Lanka from Jan. 28 to Feb. 4. this will be the first ever visit by a national team of visually handicapped cricketers to Sri Lanka. The tour will be in preparation for the Third World Cup tourney to be played in Johannesburg, South Africa, from 1st to 16th December this year. The visitors will play 3 one-dayers against the Sri Lankan team on 30th January and 1st February at the MCA Grounds and on 3rd February at the BOI Grounds, Katunayake. The England team consists of Henindich Swanepole (Captain) Miles Northwood, David Towlely, Nathan Foy, Kervyn Seal, Hassan Kern, Rory Field, Howard Greenhill, Sam Murray, Mark Pickup, Mat Dean, Andy Dulby Welsh, Luke Sugg, Dan Field, Andy Powers, Joe Harrison. This is largely the same squad that defeated Australia in the first-ever Ashes series played by visually handicapped cricketers in 2004. The team consists of four 17-year-olds. The Sri Lankan pool will be having a residential coaching camp this week in preparation for the matches. MAS Holdings are providing the uniforms for the Sri Lankan cricketers. Arjuna Ranatunga is the Patron of the National Cricket Association of the Blind in Sri Lanka while Sir Garfield Sobers and Senator Desmond Haynes are the Hony. President and Patron respectively of the World Blind Cricket Council. All matches will commence at 9 a.m. and will be of 40 overs duration per
