COMBank wins
three Business Excellence Awards
The Commercial Bank of Ceylon won three awards at the 2005 National Business Excellence Awards organised by the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka. The Bank won the Gold award in the Banking as well as Excellence in Business and Financial Sustainability categories and picked up the Bronze award for its performance in the 'Extra Large' category. The apparel giant Slimline won the Gold award in this category, and Dialog Telekom won Silver. The Managing Director of Commercial Bank Amitha Gooneratne said: "The winners at this prestigious awards ceremony were chosen after a comprehensive evaluation of each applicant to ensure that the most deserving company wins. This latest string of awards, demonstrates the outstanding overall performance of the bank in all sectors of business. The evaluation process involved each applicant completing a 20-page application form providing information on several different aspects of business including realised growth, technological investment, sustainability, blockbuster performance, corporate governance and corporate social responsibility. As part of the assessment an expert panel of judges also conducted a site visit to observe the operations of the business, in addition to reviewing the application. Other award categories included Diversified Holdings, Financial Services, Leisure and Entertainment, Trading and Insurance, while best performances were awarded for Best knowledge Integrator, Best Global Reach, Best Tech Savvy Company and Best Capacity Builder. |
