'Globetrotters' at St. Josephs
by Rikaza Hassan The premise of an interact club is to effect international action. In accordance with this principle the Interactors of St. Joseph's College and Bishop's College will present today, Globetrotters - an attempt at the promotion of international understanding.
The event comprises three phases for the participating interact clubs, out of which only two are mandatory. Phase I is of an information and exhibition concept. The participating clubs are each required to set up a stall representing the various aspects of the country that they have chosen. From culture to food to heroes and idols, history and current affairs, the stall will depict the essences of the particular country. Visitors will be treated to a whole new experience with a guided tour almost to the country plus perhaps you would like to try out the endemic gastronomical delights? The second phase is a cross between a treasure hunt and a maze consisting of Parades, Charades and Stremaze. Two participants representing each country are given five minutes to gather as much information as possible from the other stalls, presented with clues and a world map where they must solve the clues to find the country (parades). The eight best teams are then presented with visual clues as in the popular game charades to qualify to be one of the four teams in stremaze. The teams are given a clue, conducted to the only visible entrance to a quadrangular maze where they must follow the clue to seven further checkpoints until they hit jackpot with Rs. 10,000 in cash. The third and final phase of Globetrotters is a cultural performances where the clubs present traditional performances of their chosen countries. The informative stalls, the scrumptious food and the wonderful entertainment is sure to brighten up even the dullest of you. Globetrotters will be held at the Sports Complex Area and Auditorium of St. Joseph's College from 12.00 noon for a minimal entrance fee. Be there and take a trip around the world. |
